Main items

Conclusions and actions from the meeting

  1. Final layout of the shielding for the dummy septum has been described in an EDMS document for approval:

    • The new layout has been compared with the previous one in terms of radio protection and the differences are minor. So the final layout can be approved as far as RP aspects are considered.

    • The fact that the flanges will be removed with the shielding in place has reduced the dose delivered to personnel by a factor of two.

    • Next steps:

      • All people in the approval list are asked to comment the EDMS document as soon as possible (earlier than Wednesday 5th of June) such that constriction can be launched as soon as a quoting is received (Action: All).

      • The detailed situation of the dose delivered to personnel in case of interventions should be reviewed before performing the final computations: septum, vacuum, and instrumentation experts are requested to confirm or provide additional information with respect to the details already provided (Action: Mike, Stephane, Paul).

  2. Overall planning:

    • The schedule of the dummy septum construction and installation has been provided by Mike and circulated to various experts.

    • Next steps:

      • Provide the requested feedback to the proposed planning of dummy septum activities (Action: Simon, Stephane, Paul, Benoit).

  3. News from the beam instrumentation:

    • The device has been received from the workshop and tested.

    • It works fine for pushing the screen in the in beam position.

    • It has some difficulties in removing the screen out of the beam position. This seems to be due to a too high friction. The situation is being investigated in details and it is hoped that the friction can be reduced by an extended testing cycle.

  4. At the IEFC next week the proposed changes to the PS ring will be presented for formal approval and then an ECR will be prepared and circulated (Action: Massimo).

  5. Next steps:

    • Prepare for writing a detailed report of the dummy septum activities. The structure will be prepared and distributed (Action: Massimo).
