Conclusions and actions from the meeting

  1. Last week, when the whole system was already completely assembled, vacuum measurements revealed strong contamination by hydrocarbons (oil). This triggered a number of mitigating actions, those tentative schedule is:

    • TPS15 (without BTV): Finish assembly of re-cleaned TPS15 today

    • Installation in clean room for alignment Friday 29th Nov

    • Align the blade in clean room (Monday  2nd Dec)

    • Begin vacuum test (Tuesday 3rd   Dec)

    • Complete RGA analysis (Wednesday 4th  Dec)

    • Vent the system, fit the BTV and align the screen on Thursday 5th  Dec  (if approved)

    • Close up the vessel and pump down (5th Dec) for final acceptance prior to installation on the 9th December in the PS

    • BTV Clean during Wednesday / Thursday (27th/ 28th Nov)

    • Begin vacuum test Friday (29th Nov) Complete RGA analysis before Tuesday 3rd Dec

    • If ok assemble the BTV on TPS15 tank (Wednesday 4th Dec)

    • Begin vacuum pumping for final acceptance

  2. Indeed, the BTV is already completed and available for vacuum testing.

  3. It is proposed to repeat the impedance measurements once the dummy septum is back in its original state to ensure that there is no hidden problem. The actual timing of these measurements will be decided based on the completion of the other activities.

  4. Shielding:

    • The top block had been delivered to ENH-1 on 25th of November to have the lifting hook installed. Then it should be moved to Bldg 350.

  5. Second BTV to equip spare dummy septum:

    • Following the experience with the BTV installed on the operational dummy septum, a number of improvements has been considered and implemented in a new version. Such a BTV will be built to equip the spare dummy septum. It has been decided to build only one BTV with the new design as there is no scenario for which only the BTV might be replaced.

  6. Overall schedule:

    • The installation date should be 9th December, as long at the MU14 is ready for installation. Otherwise, the installation of the dummy septum should be delayed by few days.

  7. Miscellaneous

    • The manual movement of the blade will be performed by a 90 degrees crank manipulated from the upstream side (where the shielding is open) and the inside of the ring. The intervention should require about 5 min: an accurate estimate will be provided to estimate the dose delivered during the intervention (Action: Mike to communicate the intervention time to Sanja).

    • The accepted scenario is that in case of a break down the installed dummy septum will be replaced by the spare one. A cool down time will be needed before any activity can be carried out on the removed septum in order to make it an usable spare. It is understood that the blade, the table, and the beam screen will not be usable any more. The estimate of the required cool down time to allow work on the removed septum will be provided (Action: Sanja).
