Conclusions and actions from
the meeting
Most of the design work has been
completed, A significant amount of drawings have been
finished and are ready for approval and eventual
manufacture.
The cooling has yet to be finalised,
but this is not an issue.
Following discussions with
TE-VSC a DN150 conflat flange has been
installed on the vacuum vessel where extra pumping can
be installed if required. This can be suppressed if it
is not required. A presentation by vacuum experts is
planned for a future meeting.
A suitable lifting beam has been
identified and is available to do the handling of the
complete assembly for installation in the PS ring.
A list of possible interventions to
estimate the time required from a radiation point of
view will be compiled. This list will include a basic
rapid intervention (e.g., a leak test) up to a major
dismantling and replacement procedure in the event of
catastrophic failure (Action: TE-ABT).
Outstanding Issues
Do we need an impedance screen
in the tank (Action: ABP)?
Do we need RF type contacts between
the Blade support/Blade and the vacuum vessel (Action:
ABP)?
The final nominal position of the
blade has to be determined (Action: ABP).
Final shielding configuration still
to be defined (Action: TE-ABT).
Ray Veness (BI) will
discuss with his team and investigate the possibility of
adding some form of instrumentation to the dummy septum
(Action: BI and TE-ABT).
The preliminary look at the shadowing
issue will be continued with numerical simulations
performed with Fluka and PTC (Action: ABP).
