Main items
Conclusions and actions from
the meeting |
-
It will be important to have the
concrete shielding finalised in order to define whether
all blocks are available or some of them need to be
built (Action: TE-ABT).
-
The situation of the impedance
computation is being reviewed and Massimo will verify
for the possibility of having a presentation in the near
future
(Action: ABP).
-
Concerning the vacuum in the sector
20, the studies showed that strictly speaking it is not
needed any additional pumping. The presentation
triggered the following points that will be discussed at
the next meeting:
-
The installation of a blind
flange on the top of the vacuum vessel for
installation of an ion pump in case of need is
excluded. Indeed, it would prevent to align the
neighbouring main magnets and it would need to be
dismantled each time a realignment is needed.
-
A different solution could be to
study whether additional pumping could be added to
MM14. Another alternative would be to add a pumping
port beneath the vacuum chamber next to the dummy
septum.
-
In case of heating due to trapped
modes ferrites might be needed. This option would
require installing only appropriate ferrites, with a
proper treatment. Vacuum simulations to take into
account increased desorption will be carried out.
-
A meeting to discuss the possibility
to install beam monitoring device has been organised.
-
The estimate of the losses on the
septum 16 has been re-checked by Cédric finding an
agreement with old estimates (of 1%). Preliminary
results show that 0.8% will be lost on the dummy septum,
while 0.2% should reach the extraction septum. This is
roughly the same level of losses that we have now on
SMH16 for the CT.
-
The cabling work required for the
dummy septum has been confirmed in the official planning
of LS1 activities.
