Main items
Conclusions and actions from
the meeting
A monitoring system is under discussion with
BI. The details will be finalised in the future and
reported back.
As a follow up of the previous vacuum studies,
the option of installing a NEG pump beneath the dummy septum has
been considered. This option would provide enough pumping capacity
and would be easy to implement. The cost is of 12kCHF. It is decided
to foreseen a vacuum flange in the tank design in order to enable
installing the pump in case of need. The dose delivered to the pump
will be estimated. It is stressed that the device should undergo
vacuum acceptance tests prior to installation.
Studies of shadowing have been launched
the reduction of radiation field and the resulting
activation associated with MTE operation by a factor of 5-10 in
the whole environment of SMH16 Concerning the shielding.
Radiation field and resulting
activation associated with future MTE operation lower
by a factor of 3 than present CT operation in the whole
environment of SMH16.
The studies will be pursued to refine the
figures and optimise the scheme. Furthermore, tracking in the
rest of the PS circumference will be performed to detect
possible hot spots.
