Main items

Conclusions and actions from the meeting

  1. Almost final layout of the shielding for the dummy septum:

    • The inter-axis distance for the two holes should be 300 mm. The corresponding block should be built and then the two holes drilled to provide fillers to be used when the cranks are not inserted.

    • The longitudinal dimension of the top block should 950 mm to avoid any interference with the ion pump.

    • The block supporting the dummy septum should be part of the shielding model.

    • The dimension of the hole for the main bus bars should be confirmed by D. Bodart as being compatible also with the new bus bars (Action: Massimo to contact Dominique).

    • Next steps:

      • Revised layout to be circulated to check for integration, with dummy septum and with PS ring (Action: Raul)

      • An EDMS approval should be set-up to collect the comments quickly (Action: Mike and Massimo).

      • Concerning the shielding to be installed in SS75, it seems the current layout is suitable, provided that the thick side wall is used both on the inside and outside of the ring. Confirmation of this will be given to Raul (Action: Simone).

  2. Progress of BTV:

    • One month delay in the preparation of the prototype mechanics, but this could be easily compensated for.

    • Critical components are already available.

    • The installation of the filter wheel should be done such to simplify its access.

    • There is synergy with the development of the foil mechanism for the PSB. Estimated costs should be respected.

    • Next steps:

      • Test the prototype mechanics (June).

  3. Next steps:

    • Prepare a global planning for the dummy septum activities (Action: Mike).

    • Review radiation simulations and intervention times to allow establishing official figures concerning radiation doses (Action: Sanja).

    • Prepare for writing a detailed report of the dummy septum activities. The structure will be prepared and distributed (Action: Massimo).
